(From my memoir-in-progress, Mimic the Sun)
I’m about 150 pages into my second creative nonfiction book and it has to do with learning to letgo and love now, in light of the fact that life won’t go on as we know it. Like all of my writing, it’s a love story—about the love between Alan and me, about the love between my aging parents and my adult self, and about the love I experience with passing strangers. Just like my first project, every time I return to it, it feels like home. Writing is where I unfailingly find my bearings in this world.
